The application process is simple and there is only one application you have to complete to be considered for the many scholarships awarded by the HCC Foundation each year.

LSAMP is a highly involved leadership and academic enhancement program both on and off campus. Scholars are encouraged to attend as many enriching, scholarly activities and opportunities as possible.

The University of Houston Downtown campus started the Scholars Academy (SA) in 1999.
The SA, now a nationally recognized program within the University of Houston-Downtown College of Sciences and Technology, is designed to promote academic excellence and achievement in STEM degree programs, primarily for minority and female students, and to encourage the graduates to either continue their studies at the graduate level and/or pursue STEM-related careers.
In addition to scholarships, the program also provides outreach, research, tutoring and mentoring services.

 Watermark Scholarship for Women in STEM

The application period is now open for the Watermark Scholars program! 

Watermark is offering women in STEM scholarships for the fall 2021 academic term to provide much-needed support for college students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)-related studies and careers.

Two students will be selected from the pool of applicants, and awardees will each receive $5,000 to help continue their education.

 

Who Is Eligible for a Watermark Scholarship?

• U.S. residents enrolled at U.S.-based colleges or universities (2- or 4-year institutions)
• Identifying as a woman
• And with a sophomore/second year or higher standing currently enrolled in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree-granting program for fall 2021 OR demonstrating plans to pursue a career in the field of technology after graduation

To participate in the Watermark Scholars program, applicants are asked to submit either a written essay, up to 500 words, or a short video on the topic of “Who has inspired you to pursue a career in science or technology, and what do you want to achieve upon graduation?” We’re looking for students who have been inspired by recent events and changes in learning and want to make a difference in their careers!

The deadline to submit entries is July 15, 2021, and awardees will be notified in August. 

 

The intent of the GMiS Scholars Program is to increase the persistence to graduation among underrepresented and underserved STEM college students. The financial support helps these students focus on their coursework so they can graduate on time, enter a STEM profession, continue to serve as a role model for future generations, and secure the country's place as the finest technological leader in the world.

Applicants must demonstrate merit through academic achievements, leadership and campus/community activities Applicants must be pursuing a science, technology, engineering or math degree Applicants must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must be of Hispanic descent and/or must demonstrate significant leadership or service within the underserved community
