Official End of COVID-19 Protocols
Aug 9, 2023
Dear HCC Family:
The federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) for COVID-19, declared under Section 319 of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act, expired on May 11, 2023. Accordingly, Houston Community College has officially ended its COVID-19 communications and reporting protocols, established to safeguard the health of our students and employees.
Protocol and procedure changes include:
- Employees and students are no longer required to self-report COVID-19 and the employee, faculty and student COVID-19 reporting forms will be discontinued. If you have COVID-19 you should stay home and notify your supervisor or instructor.
- Plexiglass barriers will be removed.
- COVID-19 specific signage will be removed.
- Hand sanitizing stations with gallon pump dispensers will be removed. Hand sanitizer will continue to be located at building entrances, elevator lobbies and main student services desks.
- College Operations staff will no longer distribute items including gloves, face shields, goggles, and sanitizing wipes. Departments with a specific need for these items will be responsible for purchasing these supplies.
- Disposable face masks will be available near entrances while supplies last.
Thank you for your cooperation during this unprecedented pandemic as HCC worked proactively to control the spread and impact of this disease and please remember to wash your hands, cover your cough, and stay home if you are sick
