Jun 1, 2021

Amanda Materre began her career as a Houston Community College (HCC) student who thrived and became an educational consultant and instructor for Houston Community College.  Amanda has used her technical skills by working with the college on opportunity workshops and business competitions. Currently, she also helps iEducate USA with training and development and supports their staff and college readiness mentors and is a member of the Alief ISD family. Previously, Amanda was an academic curriculum and course designer for the Valdry Center of Philanthropy for the Southern University System. Amanda helps people and businesses use what they already possess by building on those skills, identifying their gifts, and sharing them with the world.

As an elementary educator at Alief ISD, Amanda plays a significant role in leading 2nd Grade virtual efforts and serves as the math lead for her grade level. Through her commitment to this role, she helps improve second, third, and fourth-grade students to become better writers and readers.

When Amanda was 14 years old, she began writing as a means of combating mental health issues, high- functioning depression, and anxiety through reflection. In June 2019, Amanda created a podcast to share her story with the world to help others heal by teaching them healthy coping strategies.

She turned those reflections into three books which allowed her to publish her first book, Full Disclosure, in August 2020. Her Full Disclosure brand has since been expanded to include a teacher edition that helps aspiring teachers and education professionals.

Amanda is also an advocate for helping others because she struggled with overcoming mental health illness herself.  Amanda wants to be the person that she once needed to someone else to be for her.

Amanda states “I don’t believe we were given just one gift and that we are  designed to only be great at one thing. I believe we were given many gifts and talents. We should embrace all the gifts we have been given and share them with the world. In my mind, that is what makes the difference between living and existing”.

Amanda enjoys writing outside of the office, keeping herself in shape with yoga and high-intensity workouts, gardening, holistic remedies, and singing with a jazz band.
