Section 2: Adding Fractions with Unlike Denominators
It Is Important That You Watch This Video First
UnLike fractions are fractions that have different denominators.
Before you add unlike fractions, you need to find the common denominator.
The common denominator of two or more fractions is called the common multiple of the denominators.
Watch each video to view examples on how to find least common multiples of two or more numbers.
To add fractions with unlike denominators, you should:
- Find the common denominator.
- Rewrite each fraction using the common denominator.
- Add the numerators.
- Carry across the common denominator.
- If possible, reduce the final fraction.
