RFQ 20-09 – Architectural and Engineering Services for New First Responders Training Facility
HCC is seeking qualifications from A&E Firms with proven design excellence and with prior experience with in designing large facilities and treatment and/or Swiftwater facilities experience, as well as, Higher Education facilities. HCC invites interested and qualified firms to respond to this RFQ for A&E Services that can be utilized for this new construction project. The training facility will provide rising water and swift water preparedness training by simulating flood events. The facility will be approximately 75,000 square foot campus serving 3000 - 4000 first responders. They will be able to practice rope, helicopter and boat rescues in flooded residential streets and commercial areas which will include hazards such as debris and submerged vehicles. The 2,500,000-gallon lake area will be roughly 61 inches in depth with some deeper areas for diving and water flow. Shallow areas will be closer to 47 inches. There will also be an urban flood area. Filtration, sanitation, water pH balance and other water treatment is also required for the facility. Support areas and structures for instruction, changing and storage are also part of the design. The facility will offer both day and night training.
