Notice of filing opportunity and notice of deadline to file applications for place on the ballot

Trustee Elections November 4, 2025

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, HCC will hold an election to fill three (3) HCC Board of Trustees positions in geographic districts I, II, and VII.

Interested candidates desiring to run for an HCC Trustee Position must file for a place on the general election ballot between Saturday, July 19, 2025, and Monday, August 18, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. All applications must be filed in person, by mail, e-mail, or fax at:

The HCC Office of Board Services will accept applications for a place on the general election ballot during the designated filing period, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  NO applications will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025. There is no filing fee.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements

Must have resided continuously in the HCC geographic district for which the candidate is applying to appear on the ballot six months prior to the last date on which the candidate could file to be listed on the ballot.

Must have resided continuously in the State of Texas for 12 months immediately preceding the filing deadline.

Must be a qualified registered voter in the geographic district within HCC for which the candidate is applying to appear on the ballot.

Must be 18 years or older on the first day of the term of office to be filled.

Must be a citizen of the United States.

Must have not been finally convicted of a felony (unless the person has been pardoned or similarly released from the resulting disabilities of the felony).

Must have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either (a) totally mentally incapacitated or (b) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

No compensation is provided for the role of Trustee. Candidates must be willing to serve without compensation.

Trustees will be subject to certain nepotism laws. Candidates should also be aware of applicable nepotism laws.

    The Board of Trustees of the Houston Community College System has called a Special Trustee Runoff Election for June 18, 2022 in HCC geographic District II. The position for geographic District II is to be filled for a term continuing until December 31, 2025.
